Zanzi Proudly Backs the 10th QLZH Foundation Ocean Bed Clean-Up

Community and sustainability go hand in hand at Zanzi, so we were thrilled to once again support the QLZH Foundation's Ocean Bed Clean-Up, which celebrated its 10th edition this past Saturday, 12th September, at Ix-Xatt tal-Birgu near the Birgu Regatta Club.

This year's clean-up was one of the biggest yet, with over 80 volunteers taking part, including 25 divers clearing the seabed, alongside snorkelers, on-land volunteers, and SUP and kayak teams helping move collected waste from the sea to the shore. The day began with a guided breathing and stretching session courtesy of Yogalex, setting everyone up for a great morning in and out of the water.

By the time the clean-up wrapped up, volunteers had removed an impressive 2.7 metric tonnes of rubbish from the seabed and coastline. The Mayor of Birgu, John Boxall, was also on hand to show his support for the initiative.

QLZH Foundation CEO Steve Mercieca played an important part in the day, out with volunteers as he has been since the initiative began. A massive advocate for marine conservation, his continued commitment is a big part of why this event has grown so much over the years.

A huge thank you goes out to this year's sponsors and partners, without whom this milestone edition wouldn't have been possible: Dr Juice, Dive Systems, EZ Creations, Visit Malta, BMIT, Laferla Insurance, Red Cross, Transport Malta, Birgu Local Council, Malta Surf Club, Sensi Watersports, VIBE FM, Legacy Ventures, Yogalex, TVS, Insynk and CLA.

Ten editions in, and the impact keeps growing – we can't wait to see what the next ten bring!
