Make Your Malta Property a Smart Property

Currently under construction, in Kalkara, is SmartCity Malta. Kalkara is a village in the South East of Malta. It’s located next to the Three Cities and overlooks the Grand Harbour. Alongside the Three Cities, Kalkara can be clearly seen from the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, a little green haven at the top of the capital’s wall.

A Smart City is one that’s designed to be self-sufficient and self-sustaining. There are many of them dotted around the world, in America, the UAE and Singapore, for example, but SmartCity Malta is going to be the first of its kind in Europe. Taking inspiration from two Smart Cities in Dubai, SmartCity Malta is to use ICT to its advantage. Technology will help optimise and sustain low energy consumption; minimise environmental impact; reduce waste; reduce traffic congestion and monitor maintenance needs.

SmartCity Malta is to comprise office space and residential buildings, as well as some landscaped outdoor areas. The city is expected to create thousands of jobs, along with plenty of property rental and investment opportunities, too. Residents will be able to buy or rent apartments and houses, and everyone will be able to make use of the outside spaces.

While you might not have the budget to build a Smart City of your own, you won’t need €275 million to make your property a Smart Home!

Like Smart Cities, Smart Homes make use of IT and technology to enhance efficiency. There are plenty of gadgets and gizmos you can equip your property with! If you’re looking to buy or renovate a property in Malta, making it a Smart Home will help keep your bills to a minimum and ultimately make your life easier. On the other hand, if you’re looking to rent your property out, turning it into a Smart Home will make it all the more attractive to potential tenants.

Wanting to make life as simple and as effortless as possible is human nature. Let’s be honest, most of us love to be lazy. With smart appliances and fixtures (that connect to Wi-Fi), you can make life in your townhouse, villa or apartment completely cushy! Smart lighting and other devices and appliances, such as: fridges, freezers, ovens, kettles, washing machines and TVs, are all available. These things can be controlled from your phone or through voice command! Some even work with virtual assistants, like Amazon’s Alexa. With the right technology, you could control almost everything in your house without having to move an inch!

Smart homes aren’t just about making your life easy, though. They’re also about making things more efficient and more economical. Installing this sort of technology in your home or rental property might be expensive at the outset, but smart devices and appliances are energy-saving! Smart showerheads, water heaters and thermostats can all help keep your utility bills to a minimum. Whether the house or apartment you’re looking to rent out is in Sliema, St. Julian’s, Mosta or Naxxar, future tenants will be drawn to your place if it’s a Smart Home. Making your property smart and energy efficient will give it an edge over all the others, as everyone loves to keep bills as low as possible!

Some other useful devices that you can install in your home are: smart doorbells, smart locks and smart security cameras. These are especially useful in Malta, since many people tend to live in or rent an apartment in a block of flats. Imagine not even having to get up to see who’s at your door! Instead of having to walk over to the intercom, you could stay comfortable on the sofa while you talk to your visitors, buzz them in and unlock your front door. Magic!

At the end of the day, if you want to have a Smart Home, you’ll have to start somewhere. So, if you’re looking to rent or buy a property in Malta then get in touch with us today!
